R&D - A Great Way To Build A Lasting Product

The building of a sports system for web broadcasting of events.

At first we tried to help our clients find a suitable camera to go with the monopod for filming sport. We partnered with JVC and promoted their cameras and dvd makers, but the quality did not come through and over time people were unhappy with them. We also tried Canon as recommended by a famous film school. It was good quality picture but the low end would not take a wide angle lens so you had to buy up in order to meet your needs. We got out of recommending anything cause we were frustrated as well.

Along comes GoPro extreme sport camera! Read over everything on the net about it, saw it at costco and other places and decided to take the next step and visit their headquarters and talk with management about their camera and system. My son was into surfing and was here from Australia and we drove north to Half Moon Bay, Ca. and met with them. Very nice people and they gave a great demo. The camera seemed good, took wide angle HD Video and so much more. Shock proof, water proof, dust proof and it gathered the video on a 32 gig Chip, not a moving hard drive.

So we bought two to demo and have for personal use. Underwater it performed great, no leaks or any trouble what so ever. next test, film a tennis match. Tried a women's match at Pepperdine and it turned heads when put up on flat screen tv directly from the little unit. Next test came at UCLA while I umpired a Men's match. Again it was put up on a court with shadows and performed great. another test at Pepperdine and LMU went flawlessly and then did a weekend Div 3 tournament at Pamoma Pitzer and it really shined. So now we are working on streaming the video to a computer as it is taken and send it onto the internet. If this works, any school can have a complete system to compete with Stanford's and USC's for a 10th or what they paid. and it is portable!!!!

We are now in contact with GoPro for technical help and hope to help Pamona Pitzer broadcast the Div3 combined National tennis championships this coming May. ESPN eat your heart out.

Look for us at Ojai in April as a test. More on that as it happens.

Check out our Resource area and see some of the shots that have been done and who has these units and is using them on a daily basis. If you buy one, you will be in with a very Tennis savvy group.
